is a musical project of mine which grew out
of my interest in many of the bands of the "idm" genre, such as Autechre, Mouse on Mars,
Monolake and others.
My roots are in electronic music and during the 80's was influenced
heavily by new wave and alternative bands like
duran duran
and depeche mode.
And then later on by the euro-industrial dance sound of Front 242,
Bigod20, Cabaret Voltaire, and Nitzer Ebb (though never into the really hard-edged stuff...).
When the Acid House and Rave movements came on the scene, some acts piqued my curiosity,
such as 808 State and the Shamen, and some elements of their styles still stick with me.
Lately, however, my interests have moved on a bit to the sounds of
intelligent dance music,
and have moved away from the standard club dancefloor cuts - however, I still have a tendency to spin typical
dance music often when I DJ.
Much of the detroit techno intrigues me as well. I find the minimalism
captivating, and I hope to be able to integrate a similar sound into my own compositions.
